Grand Cayman, Georgetown

Seaside View from the snorkel deck of the Paradise Seaside Grill

Whether you get a shore excursion in Grand Cayman (assuming you are on a cruise) or not........there are some great things to do in town, Georgetown that is.

If you walk to your right out of the cruise terminal and follow the main thoroughfare (just along the seaside) you will see a load of shops.......what you will also see, if you make your way to and past Margaritaville and Hard Rock Cafe, is a great seaside little cafe with open air covered seating right on the ocean.

Paradise Seaside Grill

At Paradise Seaside Grill, not only can you get some great grub, they have direct access to the ocean from the restaurant parking lot.  You go down a few steps and you are right on the ocean.  There is no sand beach but there are steps down into the water for snorkeling and you can swim a short distance to a nice trampoline where you can lounge or sunbathe.

Located on the property is a dive and snorkel shop so if you don't have your own equipment you can rent from them.

Just off the parking lot, as well, is a section of beach lounge chairs for rent at only $5 if you care to lay out and/or lounge as well.

This place is perfect after returning from a shore excursion (if you get off the bus you go out of the bus lot and skip all the taxi stands!!) OR if you decide not to get a shore excursion this is walking distance from the pier terminal.

Other Attractions

Also along the way to the Seaside Grill is the Hard Rock Cafe and Margaritaville.  Margaritaville is a chain located in the Caribbean islands.  Each restaurant is slightly different but all of them have food for purchase, and most of them offer some sort of water attraction whether it be a pool, waterslide or ocean access.  Check their website for details on the specifics of each location.

And there are, of course, the usual offering of tourist shops and jewelry stores that most port towns offer to cruise goers and island vacationers, alike.
