Harlingen, the small town that's a great place to live and also close to the beach

Harlingen, Texas is just about 20 miles north of Brownsville, on the border of Mexico.

It's a great small town feel but still has good shopping. Newly opened is the Bass Pro Shops, where you can get free Santa pictures and a winter carousel ride during the Christmas season. 




The store always offers a beautiful aquarium with some of the biggest catfish I've ever seen, along with a host of other varieties, and there's even a restaurant in the store as well.

If you go to the older parts of town you will be able to choose from your fair share of Independently owned Mexican restaurants.

And lastly, one of the best parts, in my opinion, is its proximity to South Padre island, which offers great beaches and the usual activities one would expect.

It's a great little town, you should stop by and check it out sometime!
