The Salt Lick

If you like BBQ and are looking for the ultimate BBQ experience, not to mention dine at a fairly renowned restaurant, look no further than the Salt Lick in Driftwood, Texas.

Hidden away in the Texas hill country, about halfway between San Antonio and Austin, the Salt Lick is an open fire, pit Barbeque restaurant that serves up brisket, sausages, ribs and almost any kind of meat you would typically eat for BBQ.

They now also have a wine tasting room where you can purchase wine or beer to enjoy while you wait for a table - this is key on the busy weekend evenings when the place is packed.

You can also bring your own cooler to have your own drinks while you wait and live music.  (Check the website for music schedule).  Originally, in the earlier days, the restaurant did not have a liquor license so people would bring their own coolers but now they do have a liquor license, but you can still BYOB if you care to and enjoy in the open air patios outside.

Once inside you will find wooden tables in dining rooms decorated with white string lights, typical in all areas of the hill country for indoor and outdoor parties and dining.

And the latest addition, which totally excited me is a TARDIS saying the Doctor Who stopped by for some ribs - perfect photo op!!

This is a must see / must taste experience!  As always, be looking for a video tour soon on my YouTube Channel !
